HUGH BISS
Fourteen years ago, Hugh sold his successful training studio in Wellington and moved his family to Auckland, to support his wife’s career — quickly rebuilding his coaching presence from the ground up.
Starting with the popular boot camps at Narrow Neck Beach, he expanded into high-performance tennis, working with leading New Zealand tennis players, including Davis Cup athletes and nationally ranked juniors, while also supporting rising talent looking for U.S. college scholarships.
Alongside tennis, Hugh has train elite golfers, freestyle and alpine skiers, rugby players, cricketers and sailors. As a former Black Stick goalkeeper, he served as a specialist Goalkeeper Coach for the New Zealand Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams, contributing to campaigns including Tokyo 2020 and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
While passionate about developing elite athletes, Hugh equally enjoys helping everyday people improve their strength, fitness and performance.
People I've trained...
People often ask me which sports I specialise in and who I have worked with in the past.
The answer is that I don't really specialise in any particular sport, although I’m really passionate about tennis.
In reality every sport can benefit from enhancing athletic qualities such as strength, speed, stability and explosiveness. So use all the experience and knowledge that I have gained from working across a large range of sports to enhance the work I do with any athlete I am lucky enough to work with.
Below is a list of some of the athletes and sports that I have worked with in the past, some more comprehensively than others. Please feel free to email me if you have any queries regarding them.
